Style: Funky techno house.
Best known for: Formerly being the 'Three Deck Wizard', but now for using four CD players
Tune of 2011: Azari & III 'Hungry For The Power (Jamie Jones Remix)

What's the future of DJing? It needs to stay as the art of performance, rather than people pushing buttons and staring blankly at a screen.
Favourite app? WhatsApp, to keep in contact with people.
Discovery of the year? I went to Dubrovnik for the first time this year and it's fantastic - one of the most beautiful cities I've seen
Rediscovery of the year? Joe Smooth 'Promised Land'. I've had it for many years and find myself playing it at the end of the night.
Awkward Moment? Being caught short at a party! I had to find a 12-minute record and disappear for a while…
Style or substance? Substance. You've got to have an embodiment of the reason that you do whatever you're doing.
Pet Hate? Negativity. I've always been a very positive person
For the ever-progressive Carl Cox, 2011 has been a rich mix of musical mediums, with the DJ and producer hitting up festivals, playing storming club sets and utilising technology to connect to fans.
“2011 has been awesome,” says Cox, who names his Glastonbury appearance as a highlight. “Every festival I've done has been fantastic, but going back to Glastonbury was a mad one. I enjoyed it immensely, even with the mud!”
The innovative 'All Roads Lead To The Dancefloor' USB concept album (combining an eclectic track range with access to the DJ's radio shows, live sets and interviews) was also released after several years of work, marking a personal milestone.
“It's a pure Carl Cox journey,” he explains, “and I think people will get the full benefit of what I'm about from this album.”
He also had another tremendous season in Ibiza with his Revolution parties at Space, including celebrating his 50th birthday with Laurent Garnier, Moby and Gilles Peterson in mid-season.
Oh yes, it's been another fine year in the life of Carl Cox.
