“On the DJ front, where else can I go with it? It's phenomenal,” he says reflecting on this achievement.
Despite being busier than ever, 2011 saw him reconvening with production partners Jose Nunez and Harry Romero (“we're full throttle now, the music we're making is ridiculous”), and releasing the huge tracks 'Live Your Life' and 'Stronger', with a Skin (of rock band Skunk Anansie) collaboration forthcoming.
This reunion has laid the groundwork for an album next year featuring a tantalising list of guests including Busta Rhymes, Pitbull, Craig David, Jessica Sutta from the Pussycat Dolls, Sarah Harding and Dizzee Rascal.
“I'm so happy to see America embrace dance music,” he adds with a glint. “All the European DJs are having to come here for gigs now like I used to have to go over there!”
As usual, Erick shows no signs of slowing down either. “It's been a good year but I just feel I've started,” he says enthused. “This year has been a set-up for what's coming.” JOE ROBERTS

What's the future of DJing? It's just gonna get bigger and better. The audiences are getting bigger and the shows are really beginning to push boundaries in terms of production. It's rock show level now.
Favourite app? I'm a Blackberry man and my iPad doesn't get much loving from me, but I've supported 'Augmented Ibiza'this year. It's a great app for clubbers in Ibiza that fills you in on everything you need to know, from club listings to GPS directions. Pretty cool
Discovery of the year? Laser lights in my bedroom... the party never stops
Rediscovery of the year? Not so old, but Mark Knight feat Florence & The Machine 'You Got The Love' still has some heat.
Awkward Moment? No awkward moments. First live show at Ultra Festival was a bit nerve-wracking, but not awkward.
Style or substance? Substance. All fur and no knickers is never a good thing
Pet Hate? Opening DJs that play big records! Just don't get it.
