Style: Trance

Best known for: The first trance No.1, '9pm (Till I Come)'

Tune of 2011: Arty & Mat Zo 'Rebound

Breakthrough DJ/Producer of 2011: Josh Gallahan.
What's the future of DJing? USB sticks. It's great to have your whole library in one hand.

Favourite app? It's Camera 360 on Android. I shoot thousands of pictures with it on the road. I like the effects.

Discovery of the year? There's a really cute and stylish steakhouse in my neighbourhood. I just discovered it a few months ago. But the food is fantastic.

Rediscovery of the year? Jam & Spoon 'Stella'. I love this track.

Awkward Moment? Pressing the wrong button on the CDJ at a US festival. Silence. People were screaming. One drink too many, perhaps!

Style or substance? I think the mix between style and substance has to be the right way.

Pet Hate? Frankfurt Airport! I hate it, but when you're travelling from Germany it's the gate to such beautiful places on this planet.
Andre Tanneberger, known to the world as ATB, doesn't do things by halves. 2011 saw the release of his ninth artist album 'Distant Earth' which, including the remix disc, came in at well over 30 tracks. It scooped him his highest chart placing in the main German album chart ever, and featured collabs with Armin Van Buuren and Dash Berlin. And still, he's got a host of remixes lined up for the next few months, the details of which he is keeping tantalisingly hush-hush.
“The main challenge for me is not the amount of tracks, it is always to find the new sound. I want to develop with different voices. I want to change the sound, but keep my own identity,” he says.

Though he's still flying 13 years after scooping the first trance No.1 ever with '9pm (Till I Come)', he's less concerned with chasing the hits now than he ever was.
“I'm not searching for the hit singles any more, or this big club hit. I'm just going back in the studio and developing this music I really love. People notice, it's not hunting for hits. And it seems like it's working.
